peanut is growing

We took Alyssa for her one month checkup today. She is now 7#, 12oz. and 21 in. long. Dr. Sapp was very impressed. He asked if there is anything we are worried about. We told him "just her teenage years." He said he couldn't help us there and then turned into a proud dad bragging on his two daughters (ages 5 and newborn.) We love taking the kids to the peds. for their well appts. I told Josiah that Alyssa would be getting a shot and asked if he wanted one too. He said "Naa."

Heath, Josiah and I, got our hair cut today. Karston hates hair cuts so we usually buzz him at home. Josiah was so good. Finally we found someone that would cut his hair correctly, instead of just trying to give him a "big boy haircut." We always say just trim the edges and get it off of his ears. They always cut it all over until he has no curl and it stands up funny in the back. Ugh!! This time we went to The Hair Cuttery and they did it right, and lo and behold they are cheaper too. I got mine cut short this time. The length goes to about my jaw line and then is layered from there. She also texturized it because it is still so thick from being preggo. I really like the cut and the price. I think we found ourselves a regular hair cut shop.

We are so ready for school to be out! Summer where are you? I've got to get back to the gym and the kids need some costant structure. We all need some fun in the sun!

It was a good day to be a Mom

My mother's day was very nice. I had told Heath that what I really wanted for Mother's day was to have our family portraits taken. He agreed so I planned for that to be my gift. When the boys got up on Sunday morn., they immediatly found me to present me with a card and gift. As I read the card aloud they both stood next to me with big smiles, just as proud as they could be. Josiah was mostly proud that he wrote his own name (with daddy's help.) They were also just as proud of the gift. It was salt and pepper shakers (I collect them) The salt is a momma Kangaroo and the pepper is a joey that fits down in her pouch. It was a very fitting gift. Noy alot of husbands will make the effort to take the kids with him to get something so thoughtful, especially after I gave him an out with the portraits. I must have gotten the best husband of all.

We did go to Target's portrait studio to have pictures made. I am very pleased with the way that they turned out. The photographer was very good and I know that these will be pictures that I treasure forever. Alyssa cried during alot of the pics. but somehow the photographer made it look sweet that she was crying so much. Next time I will make an appointment and make sure that she gets fed just before we get there. I can't wait to pick up the pictures and share them with friends and family.

It was a good Mother's day! I love my children and I love my husband very much.

bouncing back

We are bouncing back well. Alyssa is now 3weeks old. I have lost about 1/2 of my preg. weight, while Alyssa seems to be gaining weight. She is now fitting into her newborn clothing. The boys love to call her peanut, I have nicknamed her princess peanut.
Today was a really good day. Heath suprised Karston at school with McDonalds for lunch. We all ran errands, and then we had an early dinner out. The weather was absolutley gorgeous today. The high was 80 degrees, although it is Chicago so the wind makes it spring weather even at 80. When we got home, we took Romeo for a walk around the neighborhood. We came upon the park with the baseball fields and there was a game going on, so we stopped to watch the game. The boys played on the playground for a little while and Heath and I sat on a bench and got some good adult time together. When we got home it was bath time, American Idol and then bedtime. I love spending time with my family!
