On my way home from the hospital on Sunday morning, I heard a message being preached on the radio and it has stuck with me.
He was talking about when Jesus came back after the ressurection and walked along with a couple of the men that had followed him. They did not recognize him and asked him if he were a stranger to Nazareth. They then proceeded to tell him what had happened to the man they knew as the Messaih. When they reached these men's destination they pleaded with the "Stranger to stay with them for the night." Jesus did stay with them and he ate with them.
Ready? Here comes the revalation that this preacher shared through the airwaves...
The bible tells us that Jesus "Took the bread, He Blessed the bread, He Broke the bread and then He gave them the bread. When he "Broke the bread" their eyes then saw that it had actually been Jesus that they were with. Then Jesus dissapeard. There was a revelation revealed at the "Breaking of the bread." The preacher then spoke of many more times that this happened in scripture. The feeding of the five thousand "He took the bread and fish, He blessed the bread and fish, He broke the bread and fish and then gave the bread and fish to the disciples to give to the people." The feeding of the four thousand, again "He took the bread and fish, He blessed the bread and fish, He broke the bread and fish and then he gave the bread and fish to the disciples to give to the people." At the last Passover with His disciples "Jesus took the bread, He blessed the bread, He broke the bread and then he gave the bread to the disciples and told them to eat..." The preacher then made the point that Jesus does the same with us. "He takes us, He blesses us, He breaks, and then He gives us." He spoke of how Jesus takes us (at salvation.) Then he proceedes to shower us with many blessings. Then comes time for him to break us. He allows us to go through difficulties in our lives. Yes the "Breaking" is difficult and hard for us to go through, but it is necessary in our lives.
At this point I had gotten back to my mom's house and needed to be with my children so I did not hear the rest of this sermon. It seems to me though that this point could also be made: Each time Jesus gave the bread, he gave it first to the disciples and then they were to also in turn give it to the people. So if we work from the point that this preacher had made that Jesus does the same with us then we could safely say that Jesus gives us the word so that we can take it to the people. So I would say that when we get revelation on what God is saying to us, when we are given the words of God, we are expected by Jesus to give it then to the people in our lives. We can not say "Wow, that was good stuff!" and then horde it for our very own. We also should not hear the word on Sunday at our church and then not allow that word to go with us past the church doors. We need to put that Word into our spirits so that when Jesus gives us the opportunity or gives the person that needs to hear it, we have it to give. It was given to us for the express purpose of giving it away. So I encourage you. When you hear a message at church, on the radio in the car, just in your own quiet times, however He gives it to you, PASS IT ON!
