So yesterday was a holiday, which meant that all the kids were out of school and many adults were off work. As a family we talked about the opportunity to do a couple of things since we would all be home. We could really buckle down and get the house clean top to bottom. We could run some errands that we have been putting off for a while. I could have left Heath with all the kids and taken the day for myself. I thought it through and realized that it is not often that we use these holidays to spend good quality family time. With that in mind I suggested we go as a family to the local sled hill and have some fun. Why limit it to just our family having fun together. We began inving everyone we know to come out and speed through the snow. We sent our boys out on a mission. They were to take the dogs for a walk and while out there, go to all the neighbors houses and invite them to also go along with us. We sent out text messages, Facebook announcements and emails to anyone we might have missed.
In all we had 6 neighbors and 4 other families join us. We took turns going down the hill together over and over. We all laughed and had fun together.
Another neighbor met me out in the driveway this morning while shoveling the snow and expressed how much fun his daughter had with us. He was so grateful that we had included her (she is very shy and quiet.)
So at the end of the day our Toes may have been cold, but our hearts were warmed by the friendship that we shared.
